Micron Optics Inc. has introduced two tunable filters for dense wavelength division multiplexing applications in the metropolitan market. The compact metro tunable filter is designed for tunable channel drop, transmitter and receiver noise filtering, and channel monitoring and analysis in optical networks operating at 2.5, 10 or 40 Gb/s. The metro tunable notch filter selectively removes even closely spaced subcarrier multiplexed signals from a composite signal. Narrow and deep notches allow carrier suppression and optical multiprotocol label extraction and switching at the transmitters and add/drop nodes. Both filters are available with control circuitry or as separate components.
