Coherent Inc. has introduced a 6-W, 532-nm laser that is pumped by a single diode module. The Verdi-V6 solid-state CW laser features an efficient optical resonator, a cooled and temperature-stabilized gain medium and field-replaceable aluminum-free-active-area pump diode technology. It includes a rack-mountable power supply with an RS-232 interface and automatic self-optimization routines for peak laser efficiency. Applications for the low-noise laser include semiconductor wafer inspection, interferometric testing, holography and laser pumping.
