Brain Power Inc.'s BPI spectrometer is a free-standing device with light sources that also can be attached to a PC via an RS-232 port. The instrument reads transmission wavelengths between 350 and 710 nm with better than 10-nm resolution and provides information on the visible and the UVA transmittance of the material under test, as well as the numerical Cielab color coordinates L*, a* and b*. Included software runs on Windows. The company says the instrument is compact and low in cost.
