ILX Lightwave Corp. has announced the LTS-9300 life-test/burn-in system for laser diodes. The system supports 14-pin butterfly laser diode packages, and its modular design allows in-the-field upgrades and customization of the temperature-controlled section for new chip-on-carrier designs. Options include relative or absolute power measurement, and heating-only or heating/cooling systems. A comprehensive software package with ActiveX programming tools is included. Water-cooled systems are available for maintaining temperatures of 5 °C, even with 16 pump laser diodes operating at 5 A. The LTS-9300 also drives high-current Peltier elements in high-output pump lasers.
