One unique benefit of using a MERCRON lamp controller in any vision application is its All's Well feature. This is not just "an extra nice thing to have." It is absolutely necessary for quality control inspection systems, whether fluorescent, tungsten, metal halide or high-pressure sodium light sources are being used. The All's Well signal is not an alarm, but a continuous monitoring circuit that informs the operator that the lamp is operating at the required, selected brightness. When the programmable light level is in regulation -- a patented feature of MERCRON's lamp controllers -- the All's Well indicator will remain on. It communicates any condition that can cause the light's intensity to be other than what it is supposed to be: a bad connection, socket corrosion, an old lamp, faulty circuitry (anywhere in the system), low line voltage or power surges (brownouts). Its inestimable value is its error-prevention capability to eliminate false rejects: the culling of good products or acceptance of faulty ones, a very costly -- and unnecessary -- expense in quality assurance.
