FIBER INSPECTION

Prior Scientific Instruments Ltd. has announced that its ConnCert automatic defect detection system can now inspect a broader range of connectors. Besides the 2.5-mm ferrule, the software can analyze MT-type connectors for manufacturing defects such as pits and scratches. Although users can define criteria for the rejection of damaged fibers, the system provides standardization by eliminating human subjectivity. ConnCert can produce a report on each inspected fiber along with individual fiber bar-code identification. The company says the system can decrease the incidence of false rejections as well as the number of faulty fibers sent to customers.
