New microlens arrays for collimating and coupling of single mode optical fibers for various multichannel optical communication devices. The fiber array compatible lens arrays have an extremely accurate 250 µm pitch, are made from high-quality fused silica material and comply with Telcordia environmental specifications. Their excellent focal length uniformity of < ±0.45 percent lens-to-lens, uniform pointing performance, surface figure of < 35 nm RMS, surface roughness of < 2 nm Ra and double-sided broad-band AR coating assure high coupling efficiencies. Standard FCA 250 microlens arrays come for 1x4, 1x8 and 1x16 channels. Larger custom FAC microlenses of 1 up to 2 mm lens diameter made from silicon material are also available in 1D and 2D arrays.
