Pockels Cells and Drivers for Fast Switching Applications

The RapidPulse Q-switch driver switches to 4.4 kV with a 2.5 ns to 3.5 ns transition time at repetition rates up to 20 kHz. Its compact packaging allows flexibility in mounting, yet requires no active cooling. The RapidPulse regen driver applies the same technology and compact packaging to supply HV switching for both the leading and trailing edges of the HV pulse. The new IMP Pockels cell series offers laser designers ultracompact E-O devices of BBO or KD*P. Optical path length is short so that thermal effects are minimized. Assembly of the cells is inherently clean so that laser damage thresholds are high. Current models include a BBO Pockels cell with a clear aperture as small as 1.5 mm and a KD*P cell with a clear aperture as small as 3 mm.
