The RSL-500 tunable laser from Santec Corp. features an external cavity design that provides a signal-to-noise ratio >60 dB, wavelength accuracy <3 pm and output power >10 mW over a 100-nm tuning range. The laser performs wavelength sweeps of 100 nm in 2 s and has built-in power meters for simultaneous measurement of transmission and return loss. The RSL-500 also features a removable touch-screen LCD. Applications for the laser include optical research, development and manufacturing.
