Hamamatsu Corp. The R7639 photomultiplier tube from Hamamatsu Corp. has been designed for high-end emission spectroscopy, vacuum-UV spectrophotometry and other low-light-detection applications. The nine-stage side-on device, which covers the 115- to 230-nm range, includes a sensitive solar-blind photocathode that delivers typical radiant sensitivity of 50 mA/W and 40% quantum efficiency at 155 nm. Other specifications include 0.5-nA anode dark current, anode pulse rise time of 2.2 ns and 22-ns electron transit time. The 28-mm-diameter PMT has a minimum effective area of 3 X 12 mm.
