The NetLink module from Dalsa enables remote access and control of Camera Link-compliant cameras using LAN equipment. It makes possible point-to-point Gigabit Ethernet connections with up to 100-m separation between a Dalsa camera and the host computer. The basic NetLink unit is designed to send information to a single computer from one or more cameras, while the NetLink Pro module enables multicasting, or transmission of data from one or more cameras to multiple computers for parallel processing applications. The technology allows users to eliminate the image capture boards that have been required within computers. NetLink supports up to 1 Gb/s throughput -- enough for two 8-bit camera taps at 40 MHz.
