Stanford Photonics Inc. offers the XR/Mega-10Zero intensified CCD camera system for low-light imaging and detection. The combination of GaAsP intensifier technology with Peltier cooling virtually eliminates dark current/dark counts for video rate sampling with 10-bit megapixel resolution. At 30 fps, one to two counts per frame is typical, and at 120 fs, it is less than one count per frame. The dual MCP amplifying stage affords high gain and reduced ion-feedback (scintillation) noise. The Peltier cooling enables extended exposures and time-lapse applications, and the automatic bright-field feature quickly adjusts the photocathode gate time and intensifier gain to compensate for up to seven decades of light-level change. This allows bright-field imaging and hands-off surveys of samples with varying degrees of brightness, without the need for a second camera.
