Atmel Corp. has unveiled the AviiVa SM2 and AviiVa SC2 line-scan CCD cameras with white balance and color space correction and with flat-field correction capabilities to compensate for lens and light source nonuniformities. They operate with 8-, 10- or 12-bit dynamic precision at speeds of up to 60 million pixels per second. The monochrome SM2 has a sensor with 512 to 4000 10- or 14-µm pixels, and the color SC2 has a 4000-pixel sensor with pixel size of 10 µm and an RGB color pattern. Both models are packaged in a 56-mm-wide casing and are available with C, F, T2 and M42 × 1 mounts. They support a Camera Link serial interface, are compatible with most Camera Link frame grabbers and come with CommCam software. Applications include food sorting, wood and currency inspection, CD and DVD quality control, and flat panel displays.
