Pigtails and jumper assemblies made with holey (photonic crystal) fiber are available from TraTech Fiberoptics Inc. for SMA, ST, FC and other industry standard connector types. The fiber ends are hermetically sealed and cleanable and have ±10-µm tolerance on the end face window thickness. Precision polishing results in a damage-resistant surface finish. High-power designs for fiber lasers that are used with low-brightness diode laser pump sources are available. Optional features include cladding-mode removal, rotational alignment of polarization-maintaining fibers, angle polish, and air or water cooling.
