Simplify Integration of Vibration-Isolation TablesIRVINE, Calif., Sept. 24 -- Newport has introduced a new table support isolator that will simplify the integration of vibration-isolation tables in space-sensitive applications. The I-2000 Stabilizer features a square cross-section with smaller overall dimensions, as compared to previous I-2000 isolators with a circular construction. The new isolator has an industry standard height of 28" (71.1 cm) and a side dimension of 10" (25.4 cm)
The square I-2000 is targeted at demanding OEM applications including semiconductor test and inspection, various types of inteferometery and sensitive biological applications such as patch/clamp. It is also available directly to researchers and other end-users in applications such as ultrafast laser research, high-resolution microscopy and optical manipulation.
The square I-2000 Stabilizer provides the same features and benefits as existing round I-2000 products. A key to the superior performance of these isolators is Newport's exclusive use of laminar flow damping to deliver greater damping efficiency and superior isolation bandwidth. This is accomplished by employing thousands of tiny orifices, as opposed to a single macroscopic orifice. Stability is further enhanced by the I-2000 hybrid chamber design that minimizes the air volume between the piston and the damper. In addition, the use of a trifilar pendulum provides horizontal isolation down to very low frequencies.
