Suitable for use in pharmaceuticals, metals, minerals, civil engineering and environmental applications, the SALD-3101 laser diffraction particle size analyzer from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Inc. measures coarse or dense particles and offers wet and dry sampling options. The instrument covers the 0.05- to 3000-µm range using a single measurement principle, optical system and light source. The sampler incorporates a vertical radial pump with a 5000-cm3/min flow rate to circulate particle sizes from microns to several millimeters. The analyzer can be used with the company's optional SALD-DS21 injection-type dry measurement unit for switching between wet and dry samples. Users also have a choice of three injection nozzles with different dispersion powers and three sample sucking methods.
