The Altra20 released by Soft Imaging System Corp. is a 2-megapixel CMOS color camera designed for light microscopy, bright-field applications and digital documentation. Included AnalySis getIT software acquires, loads, prints and displays live images. The company says that the camera achieves high resolution and sensitivity, fast frame rates, a good signal-to-noise ratio and a broad dynamic range. It has a TWAIN interface and provides real-time white balance, interactive focusing on-screen, automatic image optimization and calibration, and online measurements and labeling. The CMOS chip has 1596 × 1196 pixels, and each of the three color channels is 10 bits. Images are transferred from the camera to a PC via a USB 2.0 interface.
