TUCSON, Ariz., Jan. 20 -- 4D Technology Corp. has introduced the FizCam 1500, the newest member of its FizCam high-performance dynamic Fizeau interferometer systems. Employing breakthrough technology, the FizCam 1500 uses a single camera and high-speed optical phase sensor, making it insensitive to vibration and air turbulence. The system enables full wavefront measurements in as little as 30 millionths of a second, more than 5000 times faster than any conventional temporal phase shifting interferometer. It offers magnification imaging of 16X optical/digital zoom, wavelengths from 638 to 1.06 nm and aperture options from 100 to 600 mm.

The FizCam 1500 is a turnkey system that includes the interferometer mainframe, a fast Pentium IV computer system and 4Sight advance wavefront analysis software. The system eliminates bulky and slow phase shifters and will measure parts with any reflectivity from 2 to 100 percent with a simple twist of a knob. Applications include production floor optical testing and quality control, cleanroom applications and measurements on automated manufacturing machines such as polishers and diamond turning machines. The FizCam 1500 can also be used to measure moving parts such as scanner mirrors, spinning disks or vibrating membranes in addition to aiding high-speed gas flow and turbulence studies. Major markets include aerospace, astronomy, optical fabrication and adaptive optics.

Most accessory optics from other manufacturers are compatible with the FizCam, eliminating the need to replace costly accessories. 4D Technology offers precision optics if additional components are needed.
