The Signum encoder family from Renishaw Inc. offers high-speed, noncontact performance combined with intelligent signal processing and the In-Trac autophase bidirectional optical reference mark. The first model, the RESM optical encoder, delivers speeds of more than 3600 rpm and accuracy to ±0.5 arc sec with resolution and repeatability to 0.02 arc sec. It is designed for industrial applications. The signal processing ensures reliability and ±40-nm cyclic error, and the software enables optimum setup and real-time system diagnostics via a PC's USB port.
