Precision-Optical Engineering's new interferometer, which is tunable from 9.26 to 10.74 µm, can serve as a replacement for
10.6-µm CO2 lasers. Interfire 10.6 combines a CO2 laser with a collinear HeNe laser to facilitate alignment of external optics
under test. It can measure the wavefront aberration of thermal imaging lens and mirror systems, optical homogeneity of IR
materials and the flatness of optical surfaces. It also allows the user to observe wavelength changes and chromatic aberrations.
