CVI Laser LLC has introduced a series of f-Theta lenses for industrial materials-processing applications such as laser marking, welding and cutting. Used for collimating the output of a scanning mirror system, the lenses provide a flat field at the image plane of the scan, with image velocity proportional to the angular velocity of the mirror. They are made of SF11 and BK 7 glass and have a typical surface quality of λ/4 at 633 nm. Damage threshold in pulsed mode is 10 J/cm2 with 8-ns pulses and, in continuous-wave operation, is 1 MW/cm2 at 1064 nm. Six models are available, with entrance beam diameters of 10, 12 or 20 mm and nominal focal lengths of 100, 160, 163 and 254 mm.
