The Guidance 3400, a compact and low-cost motion controller with optional machine vision, has been unveiled by Precise Automation LLC. It is based on a distributed network architecture that allows it to be located at the point of use. It controls four axes of motion and includes four motor drivers, six encoder input channels, a processor that handles 700 million instructions per second, digital and analog inputs and outputs, and Ethernet, DeviceNet and RS-232 interfaces. Measuring 180 × 70 × 70 mm, the controller produces up to 3000 W. The software includes motion commands, machine kinematics, and a continuous-path motion planner and trajectory generator.
