For noncontact measurement applications, Keyence Corp. of America is offering the LK-G series laser displacement sensors. They achieve 0.01-µm resolution, ±0.03% accuracy and a 50-kHz sampling speed over a range of >7 in. A proprietary linearized CCD outputs the position of light within a pixel for high accuracy, and a company-developed light-receiving unit concentrates reflected light onto the CCD. A rigid die-cast body reduces deviations caused by temperature changes, and the Ernostar lens system reduces spot distortion caused by aberrations.
