BUENA PARK, Calif., June 8 -- Sacher Lasertechnik Group, a manufacturer of laser diode systems for scientific and industrial applications, has modified its compact tunable Littrow-configured, external-cavity diode laser. The turnkey, modular Lynx -- based on patented antireflex coating -- has been optimized for output powers up to 20 0mW, convincing through narrow linewidth of 1 MHz, mode-hop free tuning up to 30 GHz as well as side-mode suppression up to 55 dB.

Sacher said commercially available diode lasers with external cavity in Littrow design have disadvantages, since light is usually coupled out via the zero order of the diffraction grating. Its developers redesigned the Littrow cavity so the laser beam is coupled out of the laser system via the back facet of the diode laser for a better quality external cavity, the company said.

The Lynx System is available in wavelengths 730 nm, 780 to 795 nm, 820 to 875 nm, 1680 nm and 1710 nm.
