FILTER TECHNOLOGY Gage Applied Technologies has introduced finite impulse response filter field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology in its high-resolution 14-bit digitizers, enabling users to filter digitized data in real time with a customizable finite impulse response filter. Filtering of analog voltage signals removes noise and emphasizes features of interest. With the numerical filtering of digitized waveform data now available, more complex methods such as moving average filters and Gaussian filters can be implemented. The technology is available as an optional FPGA image that can be installed on the company's 14-bit digitizers.
