NIGHT-VISION SYSTEM Electrophysics Corp. is offering the AstroScope 9350, a modular night-vision system that incorporates a state-of-the-art Gen III image intensifier that transforms scenes at a light level below 1024 l× into bright, high-resolution images. A custom relay optic generates sharp, edge-to-edge image detail without vignetting. The system interfaces with a number of camera models and can be installed in less than 10 s. Mounted between the objective lens and the camera body, it is powered directly from the camera, eliminating the need for additional batteries or power sources. Its rugged epoxy-coated aluminum chassis withstands harsh field conditions.

A light-tight box that receives light from an object or scene and focuses it to form an image on a light-sensitive material or a detector. The camera generally contains a lens of variable aperture and a shutter of variable speed to precisely control the exposure. In an electronic imaging system, the camera does not use chemical means to store the image, but takes advantage of the sensitivity of various detectors to different bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. These sensors are transducers...
image intensifier
An electro-optic device consisting of an electronic tube equipped with a light-sensitive electron emitter at one end, and a phosphor screen at the other end, used to convert low levels of light at various wavelengths into a more intense level of light at a single visible wavelength. Image intensifiers are commonly used to enhance visual imaging for low-light applications such as night-vision and fluorescence.
