New Focus, a division of Bookham Inc., has announced a swept-wavelength tunable laser. The TLB-6600 performs 2000-nm/s, 110-nm-wide mode-hop-free tuning for real-time test and measurement, spectroscopy, fiber sensing and research applications. The lasers exhibit OEM-proven reliability, having withstood more than 100 million test cycles without failure. A low-noise version also is available with >70 dB of amplified spontaneous emission and >55 dB of minimum dynamic range. The high-power version that produces 6 mW over the entire tuning range can be used to test multiple devices, or multiple outputs of a single device, simultaneously.
