Newport Corp. has introduced its GBS-UV-H refractive beam shaper. Optically designed without an internal focus, it is suitable for high-energy pulsed and CW lasers. It is optimized for UV laser input from 248 to 365 nm and delivers efficient beam shaping in applications such as materials processing, micromachining, annealing, lithography, nonlinear optics, optical data storage and cell sorting. It produces a collimated flat-top beam by point-to-point mapping of the Gaussian input rays to redistribute the intensity. Conventional imaging optics can manipulate and re-size the collimated output beam. The instrument uses low-dispersion refractive optics with dielectric AR coatings.
