Coherent's Semiconductor Group has announced its 40-W laser diode bars based on its proprietary aluminum-free active area material. Available in a wavelength range from 800 to 820 nm, the bars are 1-cm linear arrays mounted on conduction-cooled packages. The company says they are easy to integrate into existing applications and require no special operating environments. Also available are 30-W fiber array packaged bars based on the 40-W bars, featuring 800-µm fiber with an NA of <0.16. Applications include direct materials processing applications, medical therapeutic processes and pumping a variety of laser materials.
