Higher Brightness, Reduced Volume
JENA, Germany, March 16, 2006 -- Jenoptik Laserdiode GmbH has introduced a passively cooled fiber-coupled diode laser with a significantly higher brightness and substantially reduced volume than previous fiber-coupled diode lasers, the company said.

Jenoptik Laserdiode said its new fiber-coupled diode laser is very small, compact and powerful, with up to 30 W from the fiber, featuring core diameters between 0.1 and 0.4 mm (NA 0.22). Standard wavelengths are 808, 915, 938 and 976 nm. In addition, the diode laser features a temperature sensor at the housing, a fiber optic pigtail and an SMA (subminiature) connector with a pluggable fiber. The laser is opening new applications in direct materials processing, in the pumping of solid-state lasers and fiber lasers, and in medicine, the company said.

Jenoptik will exhibit its products at LASER.World of Photonics China 2006 (Booth 7408, Hall E2), being held March 21-23 in Shanghai, and at Photonics Europe 2006 (Booth 1303), April 4-6 in Strasbourg, France, with its partner Opton Laser International.
