The next-generation DataMan 7500 handheld direct part mark readers have been launched by Cognex UK Ltd. The instruments read all printed direct part mark codes for manufacturers implementing part traceability programs in the automotive, aerospace, electronics, health care and defense industries. The rugged devices withstand up to 50 drops to concrete from a distance of 2 m. They combine proprietary IDMax code-reading software with patent-pending UltraLight illumination technology to read codes regardless of the marking method, part material, shape or surface texture. The 7500 models have cords, and the 7550 are cordless. Both include a 1280 × 1024-pixel image sensor. DataMan 7500 supports USB, keyboard wedge and RS-232 communications, and the 7550 series supports Bluetooth wireless communications.
