Exalos AG has unveiled a 1300-nm Gaussian superluminescent LED. The EXS13G2-2111 is suitable for use in optical coherence tomography and biomedical applications. Typical optical output power is 20 mW in a single-mode fiber, and typical 3-dB bandwidth is 55 nm. The device is housed in a 14-pin butterfly package with a built-in thermoelectric cooler and a monitor diode. It is Bellcore GR-468-Core- and MIL-STD833-qualified.
