Las-Cad GmbH has released version 3.3.4 of its LasCad software package, which provides a combination of simulation tools for laser cavity analysis and design. The platform integrates thermal and structural finite element analysis, a Gaussian ABCD algorithm and a physical optics beam propagation code to analyze thermal lensing and stability as well as the efficiency of diode-pumped solid-state lasers. A new feature is the computation of laser power output for three-level systems, taking into account dependence of the stimulated emission cross section on the spatial temperature distribution.
