Laser Photonics has introduced i-Series, a fiber laser marking kit that includes a fiber laser integrated with a scan head power supply, a double-fast digital scanning head with a 7-mm aperture, an f-Theta lens objective with a 160-mm focal length, and mounting hardware and cables. Also included are a 3-m-long optical fiber cable, FiberScan software and an input/output extension board. The kit integrates into an assembly or conveyor line without a PC connection. Mean time between failures is more than 50,000 h. Applications include direct parts marking and bar coding.

fiber laser
A laser in which the lasing medium is an optical fiber doped with low levels of rare-earth halides to make it capable of amplifying light. Output is tunable over a broad range and can be broadband. Laser diodes can be used for pumping because of the fiber laser's low threshold power, eliminating the need for cooling.
