The GeoLasPro self-contained laser ablation system for sample introduction in high-resolution laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry has been unveiled by Coherent Inc. It integrates the ComPexPro 193-nm laser, a sample chamber, and beam shaping and homogenizing optics. The 193-nm sampling speed can be varied from 1 to 100 Hz. The sample observation microscope is made collinear with the beam delivery optics via an all-mirror microscope objective that is free of chromatic aberration and that can operate at high laser powers without damage to the coatings. The beam delivery optics produce a homogenized spot with a diameter as small as 5 μm.
