SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 10, 2006 -- The Mira HP from Coherent Inc. is the first ultrafast oscillator to deliver more than 3 watts of output power, the company said. Designed to be pumped by the Coherent V18 Verdi laser, this new laser delivers higher power across the entire titanium:sapphire tuning curve, with dramatic increases toward the edges at "difficult" wavelengths. The increase in output power is even more significant when the Mira HP is used to pump a synchronous OPO to obtain widely tunable visible and infrared wavelengths.

CoherentMira-HP.jpgMira HP is the latest product in the Mira line of award-winning ultrafast Ti:sapphire oscillators. These versatile lasers combine high reliability and automated operation with an open architecture. This configuration is ideal for research applications, because it enables the laser performance to be easily optimized for the needs of specific applications, Coherent said. The Mira HP is also available with a full selection of accessories and options.

Applications for the Mira HP span research in cell biology, nonlinear optics and high-energy physics. Specific applications include nanosurgery on living cells, stimulated-emission-depletion and multiphoton excitation microscopy, high harmonic generation, deep-tissue imaging and direct generation of x-rays.
