OTTAWA, Dec. 15, 2006 -- Optiwave Systems Inc. announced the next major release of its OptiFDTD software, OptiFDTD 7.0, powered by new "true 64-bit" optimized simulation engine for Windows Vista and Windows 64-bit operating systems.

The "true 64-bit" edition of OptiFDTD is a 64-bit application written specifically for next-generation operating systems. The newly optimized code structure results in improved computing performance and efficient memory utilization. Users will now be able to run much larger mesh size simulations, while taking advantage of new advances in computing hardware. The result is faster simulation times while maintaining the integrity results.

OptiFDTD 7.0 also includes new features like: design of slanted walls on waveguide profiles, prediction on memory usage, two-dimensional refractive index distribution export from layout designer and definition of the input plane wave initial phase.
