TO-Can Diode Mounting Fixture

BOZEMAN, Mont., Jan. 10, 2007 -- Laser diode instrumentation and test systems maker ILX Lightwave Corp. announces the release of the LDM-4990 TO-can mounting fixture developed for low-power TO-can laser diodes.

The fixture supports 9 mm, 5.6 mm and 5.4 mm package styles and offers fast device insertion and removal, according to the company.

ILX-4990.jpgThe LDM-4990 can also be quickly configured for three- and four-pin devices regardless of their pin assignments through dip switches. The fixture offers active temperature control with an integrated thermoelectric module and water-cooling channels for a temperature control range of -20 °C to +85 °C. Fixture design and precision machining result in repeatable thermal resistance between the TO-can device and mounting block, minimizing the temperature difference between the laser and the fixture and ensuring repeatable laser measurements.

Fixturing for power and wavelength measurement is simplified with an optional rotating mounting post for mounting and locating ILX Lightwave's OMH-6700 series optical measurement heads. Fast, accurate power and wavelength measurements can be made with the OMM-6810B power meter or the LPA-9082 laser parameter analyzer.

The LDM-4990 TO-can laser diode mounting fixtures are compatible with the company's current sources and temperature controllers with standard nine-pin connectors for both laser and temperature control.

The LDM-4990 has been optimized for fast pre and post burn-in characterization in manufacturing test applications with ease of device insertion and removal, a wide temperature control range and easy integration with ILX power measurement instruments.
