  • 10-kW Diode Laser System with Homogenized Beam

MAINZ, Germany, Feb. 23, 2007 -- A new 10-kW diode laser system from Dilas has a homogenized tophat beam profile and targets applications in materials testing and surface treatment. Dilas said the 10-kW laser head is built from its standard subcomponents and new beam homogenizing optics that are capable of handling the increased power level.

DILAS_10kW-Diode-Laser-Syst.jpgThe  beam profile of the system requires a laser head dimension of 60 x 90 x 110 cm³ in order to incorporate both the diode laser stacks and homogenizing optics as well as various sensors to enable a controlled operation of the laser. The tophat beam profile exceeds the request from the first customer who took delivery of a turnkey system in 2006. For future requests, the current spot size of 60 x 18 mm can be reconfigured to meet other applications.

The turnkey system is made up of a laser head, a control and power supply unit and a water-to-air heat exchanger.
