Headwall Photonics announces for general availability the Raman Discovery, a new line of high performance, portable Raman spectrometers. Based on Headwall’s patent-pending design, the Raman Discovery is designed for OEMs and system integrators with critical performance requirements serving the pharmaceutical, medical and defense markets. The Raman Discovery has been selected for deployment as the spectral sensing component of the industry’s only portable chemical and biological threat detection system. The Raman Discovery line of compact, lightweight Raman spectrometers offers a flexible spectral imaging platform that features exceptional signal throughput, optical efficiency and spectral/spatial resolution. The product is available for use with a 532-nm or 785-nm excitation laser, with other laser options available. Utilizing Headwall’s proprietary design, the Raman Discovery products are designed for demanding applications in harsh imaging environments. A key attribute of the Raman Discovery products is extremely low image distortion over the full CCD array which yields exceptionally high signal-to-noise efficiency and high signal throughput.
