Ocean-Optics_LIBS2500.jpgThe LIBS2500 laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy system from Ocean Optics Inc. is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the LIBS2000. It features improved sensitivity of 10 to 50 ppm, a series of 2048-element linear CCD-array detectors and a seven-fiber optical sampling probe with a 74-UV collimating lens and a sampling lens. Incorporating up to seven HR2000 spectrometers for spectral coverage from 200 to 980 nm, it operates with 32-bit Windows PCs that are compatible with a USB 1.1 or 2.0 interface. The application software fires the laser and identifies the element being analyzed. It performs reference correlation by full pixel and by spectral line as well as time-dependent analysis and line tracking over multiple samples. The imaging module enables users to focus the laser precisely on the region of interest of the test piece.
