A line of high-brightness single-emitter diode lasers has been announced by nLight Corp. The lasers produce 1.5 W of optical power from a 150-μm emitter width at 665, 680 and 690 nm. Typical operating currents are ∼2.1 A, with compliance voltage of 2.2 V and wall-plug efficiency of >30%. Spectral width is <3 nm, and typical beam divergence is <42° FWHM in the fast-axis direction and <10° FWHM in the slow-axis direction. An optional antireflection-coated cylinder lens collimates the fast axis to <2° FWHM with >95% power transmission. Suitable for use in machine vision, the devices can be customized for OEM applications.
