Process Photonics Inc. has unveiled an integrated laser machining tool for high-volume production. The FP1000 features a high-peak-power RF-excited CO2 laser and is configured with galvanometer scanners for high-speed skiving, cutting and drilling of polyimide. The device also can process glass- and aramid-reinforced epoxies and resin-coated foil for rigid and rigid-flex applications. It can cut at rates of up to 1000 mm/s. The 93 × 64 × 86-in. device weighs 6100 lb.
