JDSU has introduced fluorescence filters based on the proprietary Ucp-1 filter deposition platform, a magnetron sputtering system that combines a high material deposition rate with a load lock that reduces chamber downtime to deliver high throughput. The filter, sets coated with Ucp-1 comprise an excitation and an emission filter, and a dichroic beamsplitter. The emitter substrates are BK7, UBK7 and fused silica. All three filters achieve passband transmission of >90%. Thickness tolerance of the emitter is ±0.1 mm, and scratch-dig surface quality is 60-40. The filters are designed for visual fluorescence applications used in laboratories that conduct genetic and protein research.
