Photon Control.jpgOperating through a USB connection, the Specsoft 2.2.7 spectrometer software from Photon Control Inc. displays and analyzes data collected by the company’s SPM-001 and SPM-002 spectrometers. The program provides real-time interface connection to a variety of visualization and signal processing functions. It measures absorbance, transmittance, reflectance and fluorescence for biochemistry and biophotonics applications as well as concentration via the concentration calculation mode. Offering flexible data logging and analysis functions, it includes data log review capabilities that allow users to visualize full data sets and to zoom in on detailed spectral measurements, all on a single screen. It can access up to five spectrometers simultaneously.

GLOSSARY
absorbance
The natural log of the ratio of absorbed intensity over the total intensity which gives a constant value assuming a stable volume as well as energy. In optical physics the absorbance may be defined as the absorption cross section multiplied by the absorbing material length.
reflectance
The ratio of reflected flux to incident flux. Unless otherwise specified, the total reflectance is meant; it is sometimes convenient to divide this into the sum of the specular and the diffuse reflectance.
transmittance
The ratio of the radiant power transmitted by an object to the incident radiant power.
