Ultrafast, Low-Loss
WOBURN, Mass., Nov. 15, 2007 -- Boston Applied Technologies Inc. (BATi), a provider of optical devices, has introduced the Nanona, an ultrafast fiber optical switch with a switching speed of less than 50 ns.

Nanona, based on the company's OptoCeramic technology, has no moving parts or organic materials and has lower optical insertion loss than comparable technologies, it said.

The switches are suitable for managing fiber-optic connections, monitoring optical performance and sharing resources in industries such as telecommunications, defense/government, medicine and biotechnology, and instrumentation.

The company said it has shipped Nanona switches to its first-tier (Fortune 500) customers.
