Bristol Instruments Inc. has expanded the capabilities of its 821 pulsed laser wavelength meter into the near-IR. The 821B-NIR measures in real time the absolute wavelength of pulsed lasers and optical parametric oscillators to an accuracy of ±0.02 cm–1 over the range from 630 to 1700 nm. Its Fizeau interferometer-based design incorporates a built-in wavelength standard that corrects for temperature changes in the ambient laboratory environment and provides automatic calibration. The wavelength meter operates in asynchronous mode with automatic pulse detection and measures at a rate of 200 Hz to provide instantaneous information. A USB interface connects it to a PC, and it is supplied with software for custom or LabView programming. It displays wavelength, wave number or frequency.
