The DFS 60 incremental encoders manufactured by Sick Stegmann Inc. deliver from 1 to 65,536 pulses per revolution in a 60-mm housing. They are based on proprietary “F” technology, which uses a nickel code disc to provide more robust operation and tolerance to higher temperatures than glass or plastic rotating discs provide. The encoders are IP65-rated and can be supplied with a TTL or an RS-422 interface. Hollow-shaft clamping reduces run-out problems with collets and provides easy mounting and electric isolation between the motor shaft and the encoder to increase interference immunity. An integrated stator coupling is housed in spring steel to increase bearing life and to allow error-free angle measurement.
