CMOS_Sensor.jpgCMOS Sensor Inc. has introduced the C640, a linear image sensor that supports destructive readout, nondestructive readout and power-down output modes. The device has 4000 photodiode elements, 7 × 7-μm pixels integrated with a programmable gain amplifier for fine and coarse gain control, a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter, a voltage regulator, a low-voltage differential amplifier and a timing generator. Imaging length is 28 mm. Proprietary technology and readout structure reduce fixed pattern noise, increase dynamic range, improve linearity and employ automatic dark voltage cancellation. During image capture, the chip enables snapshot operation or start and stop integration for all pixels simultaneously.
