BOHEMIA, N.Y., April 22, 2008 -- Photonics Industries International Inc. said it has shipped the first of several lasers from its new PS line of high-power, mode-locked picosecond lasers.

Photonics Industries said its customer in Japan received the first of several 70-W 532-nm TEM00 (M2<1.1) picosecond lasers from the new line. For the PS series, up to 120 W in the infrared (1064 nm) can be converted to up to 80 W in the green (532 nm) or 30-W ultraviolet (355 nm) or 10-W deep ultraviolet (266 nm), while still maintaining the TEM00 mode quality. The repetition rate is mode locked and fixed at 80 MHz and the pulse width is <25 ps.

Such high-power picosecond lasers enable a host of novel emerging applications that demand the higher peak powers achievable from such commercial grade picosecond lasers, the company said.
